Just yesterday I got determined to locate books in Modern Greek and Norwegian and finally found bookstores that carry them. I want Harry Potter in both plus the poetry of Kiki Dimoula in Greek and the detective stories of Jo Nesbo and Anne Holt in Norwegian along with Sigrid Undset’s Kristin Lavransdatter. That’s a ways off. I intend to get a library card to ASU library in September so I can begin reading books like “… the clitic se” by Maldonado and other great linguistic books plus some literary things in Russian, not to mention materials on the history of English, Latin, etc.
I also intend to order a book on the history of Latin that comes highly recommended.
Right now I’m in the middle of The Articulate Mammal by Jean Aitchison and some others I’ve already mentioned. I’m putting quotes from Aitchison on this blog under the teaching category.
