Quick! Switch to grammar!

A friend of mine took a course at a local community college in Navaho. The teacher was an English teacher for whom the Navaho was not the principle work she would be evaluated on. Nevertheless, she did have an observation.

Interestingly, she seems to have instinctively taught the course in an amalgam of notional-functional and story telling, though she clearly had no knowledge of SLA practice and theory. She did a good job according to my friend and from how he described the class to me.

What was most interesting was how on the day she was to be observed, she did a grammar lesson the whole period. What does that tell you?
