After listening to a lot of conservatives and not a few of other political persuasions over the years, here’s what it boils down to:
They invent a world and then live in it.
That’s why they can ignore reality; the world they’ve invented is reality for them and they think the world of reality we live in is phony.
Think about it: it explains a lot, including why conservatives are in the main religious; they use their religion to bolster their invented world.
