Learning what goes into a site

For all my classes this second week I selected a plan for them to draw and label: a Roman villa for first year, a Roman-British farm for second year, and a military camp for third year. They will label the site, placing the names and roles of key characters in each site along with a verb indicating a typical activity in that site. The assessment will consist of a blank plan of the site they will fill in without notes.
As indicated in an earlier entry, we led up to this by my interviewing them about the characters and then having them present the whole set of characters – all in Latin. I chose the drawing activity after realizing I couldn’t be heard over the noise of the air conditioning.
