Yesterday I arrived at school without the materials I had developed for Spanish, so I decided to make Monday my grammar day. I have a grammar day for each class to prepare them for the following year where the teachers are all focused 100% on grammar. So I just started with the basic components of a sentence, subject/predicate, showed how the verb is the heart of the sentence, and how we organize verbs into persons singular and plural. I had them take down in their notes the paradigm of an English verb, then of a Spanish verb. There were good questions and some of them remembered the grammar presentations of yore but seemed happy to see this presented this way. Grammar can be fun, no matter how useless it may be.
My Latin class was OK b/c I’d somehow brought the retell I had written out.
