Lap, one of my favorite words b/c it would seem to be a body part but only appears via a change in posture. It has extended meanings like in the lap of luxury; there are also other possibilities when you changed your posture. Here is “lap” in two languages, Russian and Urdu.
Urdu god = lap or crook of the arm, both formed by changing your posture.
Russian koleni = knees b/c when someone sits on (or in) your lap, they are sitting on your knees. However, a secure place like in the lap of family affection is “lono”. But we mustn’t leave out “podol” which is the front part of skirt used for carrying things.
