Dignity in a specific context

Recently in Unbroken I read about dignity and posted on it. Today in church it hit me that that was what so much of the church I attended for three years and still visit was all about. It gave dignity to people who were denied it in their civil life. Only within the church could they dress up, hold office, perform duties, study difficult matters, advise others, and do all those things that give our lives dignity. What astounds me is the way those people’s children and grandchildren, no longer denied dignity by law and custom, still find dignity within the church. That speaks to something deep, a deep something.
