When my friend, Brian and I talk about writing a textbook, we say we will put one word per page in very large type, so: THE next page BOY next page IS next page A next page STUDENT……….. b/c it seems that high school kids at least simply cannot see something as simple as a glossing of the text at the bottom of the page. How often have you heard, “OH!!! There it is!!” as if a typical textbook page of print is nothing but a jumble to them. I would think words on a board would be the same and that, in fact, has been my experience. It does work with a lot of kids but you also lose a lot. And that’s not even counting kids with disabilities.
Re copying the fl accurately off the board? Forget about it.
