A Columbus Day story

One day my buddy and I were eating mutton stew and fry bread in our favorite Navaho restaurant on Indian School Road in Phoenix, by the Indian Hospital. It was late in the afternoon and we were the only customers. The owner decided to close early so he put up a sign that read “Closed for the Holiday”. It was Oct. 12, Columbus Day. We teased him about it.
