I read about logophoric middle in McWhorter and remembered it in Middle Voice by Kemmer. I looked on my shelf for an Icelandic grammar and opened it up at random to the very page on logophoric structures the author calls it middle voice. Amazing. The Force is at work. I then looked the author, Einarsson, up in Kemmer and, sure enough, he’s the grammar she used. I’m rading a big chapter in Linguistic Complexity by Kuster on Norwegian, Faroese, and Icelandic. The history of the countries is different from what I thought.
