The sounds out of the GOP sound familiar to this Arizona boy. I stood a few feet from Barry Goldwater as he gave his stump speech, running for the Senate. Little did I know that just a few years later, the Republican Party would trade the Black vote, which was then pretty Republican, for the segregationist vote. But they did and the GOP gave up its soul.
Now again, we see the GOP casting for votes and embracing someone whose output can be measured against a fascist check list. Now the GOP is giving up the votes of women, of minorities, of immigrants, of gays, of the young, and of the educated, all in return for those reliable old White guys who firmly believe the taxes they pay are being handed over to people who do not work. Anyone in those groups I listed who does not vote Democratic is cutting their own throat.
