The nuclear conundrum

It has become de rigueur to lament the dropping of the A-bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A veteran I talked to disagreed.  He was in the 3rd Marine Division stationed at Tientsin ready to jump off in the invasion of Japan with casualties among American troops anticipated to be very, very high. He simply said of the bombs that he was relieved. A matter of perspective?
