Pat’s version of The Speech:
I may be moving like pond water, but the arc of history bends toward me getting the refrigerator cleaned.
My big chore for today.
On The View, Van Jones recounted his experience watching the opening scene of Hidden Figures and realized how racist and sexist he was, watching the little Black girl doing high level math. If she had been a young Steve Jobs, White and male, he would have not been taken aback, but his reaction was that. Joy tried to tell him that was understandable and he retorted, “But I’m a big civil rights dude, that’s my job to know these things and I didn’t know it.”
Exactly what I try to convey to people who think that b/c I have been married into a Black family for so long, I must be above racism. Not so.
