Professional courtesy

When I entered teaching, I found quickly and sometimes to my chagrin that teachers have a certain profile, part of which is what might be called professional courtesy. I went back to March and reread the other day several posts complaining of ‘asking for proof’ and ‘tone’. Among teachers, I found that this is often felt to be badgering. If a teacher makes a claim, the proper response is to nod in sympathy. After all, we are not scientists. We’re just teachers.
