Is it worthwhile to distinguish old GOP doctrine: small gov’t, pro-business, strong defense, “muscular” foreign policy, low taxes from the conservative values, i.e hierarchical society, authoritarian social control, patriarchal family, religious conformity, etc.? Why can’t the GOP admit some liberals even? They used to. Lots of Democrats, esp Black Democrats, are very conservative…… also Hispanics. But the GOP has become exclusionary, what they’re ‘again’ than what they are ‘fer’.
