Response to a comment on an article on the Catalonian referendum.
Agree with madlyf: wtf! Not so much about voting on-line, altho that deserves a great deal of consideration, but the lack of concern over the growing moves toward breaking up long-time political entities like the U.K., the E.U., Ukraine, Northern Italy, not to mention break-away groups in other parts of the world like the Kurdish movement. All of these reflect discontent on a massive scale, like what we saw here in the U.S. in our last election, and destabilization of vast regions. Resolving this takes patience, diplomacy, understanding and tolerance, and a great deal of knowledge as well as adherence to norms and protocol while acknowledging grievances. And no one wants to talk about it. Does that sound familiar? Like a social problem in our own country?
