I recently read of list of reactions by the MAGADFs to Trump’s first 3 weeks of doing things he promised to do. They pretty much said, “I didn’t think he meant -fill-in-the-blank.” Me, my union, my family, my kids, my ethnic group, my state, my job, my food (eggs), my gas…… and on and on.
Years ago I wrote here something along the lines of “are Hitler/Nazi/Fascist analogies OK now?” Maybe it took Musk’s Nazi salute to turn a few MAGADF heads but the shock value of “Fascist takeover” has drained away. I read a chilling article by a scholar of the Third Reich on how the industrialists got steamrollered by Adolf. The parallels are now unmistakeable. Yet supposedly serious people are tut-tutting us, but I notice a dearth of references to Trump Derangement Syndrome. I’m waiting for one of the Libertarian ghouls around Trump to use that half salute from the elbow, just flap the forearm up in a casual way, as if to say, “Oh yeah, around here we do that all day.”
