A Letter to David Frum on reading his Atlantic article 7/27/25

Having lived well past the current life expectancy of Americans and reading your critique of socialism, I realize I have always straddled that fence between capitalism and socialism as in supporting Bernie’s goals but voting for Hillary while I enjoy the fruits of capitalism. It is a painful fence to sit on.
On my shelf are several unread books of yours from your unabashed ‘conservative’ days I promise to read if for no other reason than to see how your ideas have changed. In my case it was when I realized the social safety net programs of Euro-socialist countries of the last half of the 20th century were based on capitalistic colonialism and exploitative policies ripped from other lands and their peoples. Made me think. Hmmmm.
My wife’s great-grandfather occupied the lowest rung of that great American economic enterprise as a slave freed only as a young man in 1865. He immediately began buying property. Made me think. Hmmmm.
You make me think, too. Thank you.

P.S. I tried a contact D.F. site but it didn’t work. He’ll have to get along without my comments.
